Hare and linnets

Image
I was driving down to the far end of the 10 acre left hand strip (the land is now dry and  hard  enough to drive cars on)  when saw a hare sitting in the middle of the track so stopped quickly to watch. He seemed unperterbed  and continued to wash and scratch himself so using the car as a hide I was able to point the camera out of the window and  take a few shots!        Coming back in the opposite direction I noticed a flock of small birds which turned out to be linnets and gold finches on the ground, apparently pulling at the dandelion heads so again using my car as a  hide, I managed to get a few photos.

Nest building

This morning I noticed a great tit perching in the conifer where we have put up a nest box  so decided to watch it as I could see it had a beak full of nesting material. To my delight it entered the  nest box so I am hoping we should have a family of great tits before too long!  A couple of times when entering the bird hide shed I have noticed a woodpigeon fly out, from between the outside slats and upon investigation today I found out why!  This is a bit unfortunate as the shed is being demolished and re-built in a couple of weeks!

Pear tree blossom

The orchards are starting to look pretty with pear blossom out and bees were enjoying it..

A few more trail cam sightings

I moved my trail cam to a different area and was pleased to record the following videos...

Logs and loaders

Another Saturday clearing up - this time a digger was used to dig up all the tree stumps and then move soil out of the way.   Howard borrowed a tractor from the farmer he works for in the summer.   Enlarging the track by removing line of tree stumps Tree stumps and soil waiting to be moved     Diggers and dumpers Nearly as big as me!   A bit heavy to lift so I think I will just sit on it!    Strong girls!   Howard had fun with the mower!
