New Beginnings
On 1 January we became the new owners of Meadow Lodge Farm (formerly Heath Fruit Farm) The main cropping orchards and farm buildings remain under the ownership of Heath Fruit Farm but Meadow Lodge Farm comprises the farm house and 45 acres of land. Some is good orchards, some new but requiring improvement orchards, there are areas of derelict fruit trees, five large ponds, areas of rough grass and trees and vegetation. Most was purchased 50 years ago by Mr Wallis, who sadly died in December 2019 but it all became too much and apart from the main orchard, many areas have been neglected. However it is now a great home for nature! We have seen three species of deer, rabbits and hares, foxes and badgers and many bird species. Initial plans are to renovate the farmhouse which is currently inhabitable , rejuvenate some of the orchards, create a nature reserve, area of amenity land and possibly some arable farmland.
